Ready? Get Set! Risk!

Taking Risk

What is Risk? Risk is a situation that could be dangerous or have a bad result (Oxford, 2020). Risk is what we are all living right now. At what point should we be ready to take a risk?  One man’s poison is another man’s meat. What seems like a risk to one person might be an adventure to another person.

Lyfe can be risky

Which is riskier? Driving your car or traveling on an airplane? It’s all risky.  Jumping from that bed in the morning could be risky. You don’t even know if you will be able to walk to the bathroom, but Faith keeps us going. Nowadays, catastrophes happen without warning. We don’t know what the Universe has for us tomorrow and every day is like a surprise. Who knew 2020 would be a year of suffocating in masks and experiencing the discomfort of what we call comfort of our homes? For some people the pandemic is an opportunity to save money while to some it’s been a threat, but neither is good as we all wait helplessly to drown in the big recession.

What’s next?

The earth doesn’t stop revolving around the sun no matter what the universe emits. Nobody will ever teach you on how to use your commonsense. It’s time to seriously contemplate on your long term goals. We were taught how to be good employees but who was going to employ us if we didn’t have enough business ventures?  It is the high time we offered employment to people rather than fantasizing about being employed by Multinationals, United Nations, Banks, and all those dream employers that 90% of us, “dreamers” might never be employed by. We may be in denial, but the truth is that the duration from the time we are first employed to the time we retire is incredibly short that we almost get caught up on the verge of retirement. Remember when the last statement on a job advertisement read like this, “Must not be more than 45 years old”, and you felt so secure? How many years until you are 45 now? I am sure they are not as many years as they are towards retirement.  So, if at all losing your job is your biggest fear what are the chances that your job will survive this recession? My aim is not to create fear. We are together in this. Remember days when we were told to save for a rainy day? Well, the rainy day is here, and we can’t see the dusk of it. Human beings are naturally good sales people, the reason we are able to sell our skills for a living. Keep going buddies! Try that side hustle. You won’t lose much from enrolling on free online certification classes. Why don’t you teach English grammar classes online?  No matter what, people will never stop eating unless there is a drought. Come on, let’s brand that flour or rice and sell it online. You have items that you don’t need? Why don’t you create your own page to sell used items? Social media might be time wasting for some, but it is a source of income for many. For those employed and you are not sure of your organization’s fate, it’s time to do your dentals and whatever else that the company’s insurance includes on your health cover. Utilize every single opportunity that is offered as a benefit by your employer. For those who can do home schooling like teachers, get two extra students and that is dependable income for you. Let’s be moderate too because greed becomes a habit and by the time we realize it, we have lost ourselves in greed to an extent of stealing. Lipstick is not selling as much as it used to sell, why don’t we substitute it for eyeliner. Anyway, at the end of the day it is what you really are and not what people think you are. Lyfe is a journal, turn the page.
